Wenzhou greets Asian Games with a painting competition

A children's painting competition wrapped up in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 3, local media outlets reported.

The competition was held to welcome the upcoming 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou and the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 22 this year.

Following an introduction of the history of dragon boat and dragon boat races, participating children answered relevant questions and they were also divided into four groups to paint dragon boats with different hues.

At the Wenzhou Dragon Boat Sports Center, the Wenzhou Philatelic Association also exhibited stamps showcasing the development and shining moments of the sports industry in Wenzhou as well as those related to the Olympics and Asian Games.

Wenzhou is reputed as the hometown of Chinese dragon boats. Wenzhou's dragon boat culture is part of the outstanding traditional Chinese culture and originates in Chinese people's worship of the dragon totem.

As one of the co-host cities of the 19th Asian Games and the Games' main training ground, Wenzhou will host the dragon boat races and qualifier soccer games and is expected to produce six gold medals during the Games.
