The China-Europe freight train "Wenzhou Express", loaded with shoes and trousers, embarked on its maiden journey from Yueqing to Russia on June 29. It is expected to reach its destination after a 21-day journey.
The train consists of a total of 40 standard containers, carrying a combined cargo weight of 304 metric tons worth an estimated 14.8 million yuan ($2.04 million).
After completing inspection and sealing operations by Wenzhou Customs, the train departed from Yueqing Bay Port, heading to Jinhua South Railway Station to reassemble the cargo before continuing its route to the Alashankou border port in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. From there, it will proceed to Russia.
The integration of the China-Europe freight train and sea-rail intermodal transport at Yueqing Bay Port enables it to be connected with the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
The approach is expected to attract international bulk commodity transit cargo from Central and Western Asia, facilitating consolidation and distribution at the port. It also promotes the further expansion of Yueqing's market in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, contributing to Wenzhou's development as a key logistics hub city within the initiative.
