Chen Xiaoli, a young talent hailing from Wenzhou, showcased her skills and prowess in the world of martial arts at the ongoing Universiade in Chengdu.
On July 30, she clinched her second gold medal in the women's tai chi sword competition, captivating the audience with her flawless performance. The victory followed her earlier triumph in the tai chi boxing event a day earlier, where she secured the first gold medal for Zhejiang's athletes in this year's Universiade.
Chen donned an elegant white and pink ensemble as she moved gracefully through the tai chi sword routine. Her movements resembled a white dragon gliding through the air or a fierce tiger swiftly striking its target, displaying a delicate balance between strength and agility. The display earned her a score of 9.753.
Reflecting on her achievements, Chen modestly shared, "I performed as I normally would. I am quite satisfied." She also recounted an interesting anecdote from her training sessions, "Many athletes from different delegations train together. Despite the language barrier, we observe and support each other, often with smiles."
Born in 1996 in Xinli village, Fengyang township, Taishun county, Chen initially pursued her martial arts education at Cangnan Feilin Wushu School. Later, she caught the attention of Wenzhou Sports School's wushu team. In 2012, she enrolled in Zhejiang University's College of Education, majoring in wushu and traditional ethnic sports, where she is currently studying as a graduate student.
