Wencheng county in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province will implement a series of policies starting this month to accelerate the return of overseas Chinese who are looking to start or expand businesses in the county and promote common prosperity, local media reported.
By creating a unique commercial platform, the county aims to encourage more overseas Chinese to develop import trade in the county by providing them with rental subsidies for commercial shops, reducing enterprise warehousing and logistics costs, and encouraging them to participate in various exhibitions.
Registered foreign enterprises in the county that import products like grape wine and daily goods will be given subsidies. Enterprises that have been stationed in the county for six years or more will see an annual increase in rental subsidies for their shops.
Agricultural enterprises involved in the Wencheng digital agriculture micro creative park will receive assistance in the form of rental subsidies and interior design. Top-tier retail enterprises that meet a certain annual import quota will receive a subsidy of up to 200,000 yuan ($28,000) for warehouse rentals.
Wencheng will focus on developing the overseas Chinese-themed hotel business, including "Qiaojiale" brand homestays, boutique homestays and hotels. Domestic and international renowned hotel and homestay management teams are encouraged to invest in and develop "Qiaojiale" homestays, homestay clusters and hotels in the county.
In addition, Wencheng encourages overseas Chinese to establish headquarters companies in the county, attract foreign investment projects, and introduce scientific and technological talent.
