Wenzhou registers robust e-commerce growth in 2022

The Zhejiang Province E-commerce Development Report (2022) recently released by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce has unveiled impressive figures showcasing the thriving e-commerce landscape in Wenzhou.

In 2022, the city achieved online retail sales of 232.18 billion yuan ($32.19 billion), securing fourth place in the province with a year-on-year growth of 5.5 percent.

Wenzhou also excelled in terms of online consumption, which amounted to 159.03 billion yuan. This achievement placed Wenzhou at the third spot in the province, reflecting a commendable 2.9 percent year-on-year growth.

The figures underscore the city's increasingly active participation in the digital marketplace, as well as a steady growth in residents' reliance on e-commerce platforms for their shopping needs.

The city's dynamic e-commerce ecosystem is also evident in the number of online retail shops, with a staggering 65,000 active outlets. The flourishing online retail community has not only contributed to the local economy but also directly created 183,000 jobs.
