The 2023 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures, held at Cangnan's Yuliao Beach, kicked off on Aug 10, attracting over 100 beach volleyball athletes from around the world.
This marks Wenzhou's debut as a host for international beach volleyball events and is the second international sports event held in the city this year.
The competition brought together 53 teams from 13 countries and regions, including China, the United Kingdom, Australia, Mozambique, and Thailand. Among them were 31 men's teams and 22 women's teams. China fielded a total of 25 teams, consisting of 13 men's teams and 12 women's teams.
Many of the participants were visiting Yuliao Beach in Cangnan for the first time and were highly impressed with the playing conditions and the environment. Georgia, a female athlete from Australia, praised the location, saying, "It's a fantastic place with beautiful beaches."
An outstanding feature of the competition is its openness. The court is surrounded by nothing more than a net, allowing beachgoers on the other side to watch the world-class event.
Yuliao Beach, the venue for the competition, can be described as a natural beach volleyball arena, stretching 2,000 meters long and 800 meters wide, making it the largest sandy beach on the continental shelf along the southeastern coast of China.
