Wenzhou recently introduced its first-ever naked-eye 3D screen at the west entrance of the Wenzhou Sports Center.
The display employs a clever 90-degree curved screen to create visual displacement, effectively "tricking" the visual senses and enhancing the 3D effect.
Measuring about 21 meters in length and 7 meters in height, with a total area of around 159 square meters, the screen has drawn crowds of curious onlookers. As they marveled at the spectacle, the inaugural naked-eye 3D Asian Games promotion video in Wenzhou came to life.
It began with the inscription of "The 19th Hangzhou Asian Games" and its logo. Subsequently, the screen came to life, revealing an exhilarating scene of the mascots, Congcong, Chenchen, and Lian Lian, engaging in a soccer match. The immersive experience transported viewers into the heart of a high-speed, high-energy soccer field.
In one electrifying moment, Chenchen unleashed a powerful kick, sending the soccer ball soaring out of the screen, prompting gasps of surprise and awe from the audience. Young spectator Ye Hanwen instinctively shut his eyes. "It startled me; I thought the soccer ball was flying right at me," he exclaimed.
A man surnamed Su, head of Wenzhou's Bonfire Culture and Media Co, which was responsible for designing the video, explained that naked-eye 3D technology relies on special optical designs and algorithm optimizations. It enables each eye to perceive different images by adjusting the brightness, color, and switch timing of LED lights, thus creating a 3D visual experience.
The video will continue to play uninterrupted throughout the day at the Wenzhou Sports Center. Another naked-eye 3D video, infused with elements of the Games' dragon boat event, is also in the works and will be unveiled to the public soon.
