The Wenzhou municipal sports bureau announced on Aug 21 that 14 Wenzhou athletes have confirmed their participation in the Hangzhou Asian Games, including events such as swimming, dragon boat racing, shooting, and chess.
The roster of the 14 athletes includes swimmers Liu Yaxin, Xu Jiayu, and Pan Zhanle; dragon boat racers Li Shuqi, Xue Lina, and Zhu Xiaoli; badminton player Zheng Siwei; shooter Wang Zhilin; chess player Ding Liren; sailors Wen Zaiding and Dong Wenju; karate athlete Li Qiaoqiao; esports player Lin Heng; and breaking dancer Zeng Yingying.
Statistics show that Wenzhou athletes have collectively clinched 23 gold medals from the 15th to 18th Asian Games. Notably, during the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, Wenzhou athletes secured an impressive haul of 10 gold, four silver, and one bronze medal, securing the province's top position on the medal tally.
With a rich legacy of sporting excellence, these 14 athletes will once again exemplify the spirit of dedication, skill, and sportsmanship as they take to the stage of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
