On Sept 15, the torch relay for the Hangzhou Asian Games is set to pass through Wenzhou, and the city is already ablaze with the exuberant spirit of the Asian Games.
Linking preparations for the Games to townscape planning, the city has been working tirelessly to elevate its greenery and overall appearance in key areas.
In areas with hectic traffic, such as Oujiang Road and the south section of the Ouyue expressway, more greenery has been installed. Oujiang Road, a pivotal route for the torch relay, has been adorned with bougainvillea, complemented by seasonal flowers planted in five green belts.
A blossoming corridor has been set up along the south section of Ouyue thoroughfare expressway, a crucial conduit for Games-related commuting. Multiple varieties of roses and bougainvillea now grace guardrails on both sides, enhancing the city's nocturnal charm with vivid lighting.
The City Balcony marks the end of the torch relay in Wenzhou. Its landscape enhancement seamlessly incorporates elements of the Asian Games, featuring Asian Games-themed exhibitions and public service advertisements. The overarching design concept of a balcony vividly illustrates Wenzhou's rich cultural heritage and unique aesthetics.
Century Park and Shangdoumenpu Park have created Asian Games-themed gardens and scenic vistas by planting flower varieties in colors as well.
Near the Oujiang River, home to the largest mountainous illumination project in the world, is a 100-second promotional Asian Games video. The video features "happy Wenzhou" in Chinese, as well as three Games mascots.
Wenzhou has also made upgrades to Games venues and reception hotels. The Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center, one of the venues for group stage football matches, has undergone a complete exterior cleaning.
The Wenzhou Marriott, designated as the official reception hotel, will offer over 700 culinary delights from different parts of the world and more than 50 signature local delicacies, catering to the diverse tastes of athletes. The hotel has also organized training in etiquette, English and first aid, as well as cultural seminars, and established specialized emergency response teams to address any unexpected situations.
Dressed in upgraded venues, splendid urban landscapes, and exceptional hospitality, Wenzhou extends a warm welcome to athletes and visitors from around the world.
