As the countdown to the Hangzhou Asian Games enters its final days, the event is already notable for its accomplishments and record-breaking feats in various areas.
The Hangzhou Asian Games has attracted an unprecedented turnout, with 12,417 athletes and 4,975 accompanying officials from 45 countries and regions, making it the largest in terms of participant registration in history.
Hong Kong has dispatched its largest-ever delegation to Hangzhou, consisting of more than 1,200 members, including 860 athletes.
This year's Games boast the most diverse array of sporting events ever, featuring 40 sports, 61 disciplines, and 481 events. These include a mix of sports that are regionally representative, such as skateboarding, breakdancing, and esports.
The Games is also the most extensive in terms of geography. Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, serves as the main host city and is joined by five co-host cities: Ningbo, Wenzhou, Huzhou, Shaoxing, and Jinhua. Numerous competitions will be held across 56 competition venues, supported by 31 standalone training facilities, one Asian Games Village, and five sub-villages.
Commercial interest in the Hangzhou Asian Games has soared to historic heights, resulting in record revenues from sponsorships.
Following the success of the 2022 Winter Olympics, a range of over 1,100 licensed products was launched spanning 17 categories. These products are available through nearly 1,500 outlets as well as Tmall, an online shopping platform in China.
