Wenzhou athletes achieved remarkable success at the 19th Asian Games' swimming competitions on Sept 25, clinching four medals in a mere 90 minutes.

The excitement began just one minute into the competition, when Xu Jiayu secured the gold medal in the men's 50-meter backstroke with a time of 24.38 seconds. This victory followed his earlier triumph in the 100-meter backstroke event.

Twelve minutes later, Pan Zhanle, who had previously shattered the Asian record in the men's 100-meter freestyle, delivered an outstanding performance in the men's 50-meter freestyle with an impressive 21.92 seconds and won a bronze medal. During the post-match press conference, he said: "I had two events today as I wanted to challenge myself. Less than 22 seconds was already a personal best for me, so I am pleasantly surprised to make it to the podium."

The medal streak continued as Liu Yaxin clinched a bronze medal in the women's 200-meter freestyle final with a time of 1 minute and 56.43 seconds.

In the men's 4x200-meter freestyle relay, Pan Zhanle returned to the pool, teaming up with his partners to secure the silver medal.

As of Sept 25, Wenzhou athletes have accumulated a total of five gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in this year’s Asian Games.
