A recap of Wenzhou athletes' golden best moments at the Asian Games

Athletes from Wenzhou delivered extraordinary performances at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, clinching a total of 18 gold medals across various competitions, including air rifle, swimming, esports, sailing, dragon boat racing, and karate. By showcasing their tenacity and talent, they have shattered records and made history.

The golden journey started on the morning of Sept 24 when Wang Zhilin, alongside her teammates, secured the city's first gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle team event. This marked a triumphant beginning for Wenzhou athletes at the Asian Games.

Later that evening, young talent Pan Zhanle bagged the second gold in the men's 100m freestyle swimming final. His remarkable time of 46.97 seconds shattered the Asian record. Xu Jiayu, in another thrilling swim, defended his champion status in the men's 100m backstroke, refreshing a new match record with a time of 52.23 seconds.

Continuing the streak of victories, Liu Yaxin contributed to the city's fourth gold in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay swimming event.

Lin Heng played a pivotal role in China's victory in the much-anticipated esports event of King of Glory on Sept 26, securing the sixth gold medal.

The frenzy continued on Sept 27 when Wen Zaiding, along with his partner from Shandong, delivered the eighth gold medal in the men's 49er class sailing event, carving a new milestone in the city's sailing history.

Li Qiaoqiao triumphed with the sixteenth gold medal in the women's 68 kg karate category on Oct 5.

Closing in on Oct 6, China's national women's dragon boat team secured another gold medal in the 1,000m straight-line sprint, achieving a remarkable "triple success" in the Asian Games. The team includes three athletes from Wenzhou, namely Li Shuqi, Xue Lina, and Zhu Xiaoli.

These extraordinary achievements underscore the capabilities and dedication of Wenzhou-based athletes, who left an indelible mark on the Asian Games.
