Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province has recently unveiled a 10-yuan ($1.37)-restaurant platform aimed at providing affordable yet high-quality meals to workers in new employment forms, such as food takeaway riders.
Through this platform, people can order a variety of dishes, including pizza, fried chicken, and dumplings, all priced at around 10 yuan. This platform, the first of its kind in China, can be accessed through the WeChat official account of the Wenzhou Labor Union.
One can only place an order per day, and the delivery service, free of charge, is only available within a 3-kilometer radius from the catering provider.
Nevertheless, with the participation of 214 participating businesses in the pilot phase, located in the city's Lucheng district, the platform guarantees a wide range of menu options that will be regularly updated. Food safety is also prioritized, with stringent quality standards for food, kitchens, and deliveries.
Wenzhou has been actively addressing common challenges faced by workers in new employment forms in the city, such as access to charging stations, water facilities, rest areas, and restrooms. The introduction of this new dining platform is part of such efforts. With over 200,000 such workers in Wenzhou, these initiatives are expected to enhance their well-being and contribute to a harmonious and supportive community.
