A batch of certified fresh yellow croakers exported from Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, touched down in Italy via the "Wenzhou-Milan" international flight. They are set to make their way into the local seafood market in Italy.

These yellow croakers, originating from the waters near Nanji Island in Pingyang county, were purchased by Wenzhou entrepreneurs residing in Italy to cater to the culinary preferences of the local Chinese community.

Thanks to the unique natural conditions of the waters around Nanji Island, Pingyang has carved out a path for eco-friendly deep-sea aquaculture to support the growth of the local aquaculture industry.

To facilitate the export of yellow croakers, Wenzhou Customs has been in contact with various local departments to help aquaculture enterprises understand domestic and international policy requirements for the export of yellow croakers.

"This successful export has boosted our confidence. We will continue to strengthen quality management, fostering shared prosperity within the Nanji aquaculture industry," said Cai Chengquan, who is in charge of the local seafood export business.

Wenzhou is a major production area for yellow croakers in Zhejiang province. In 2022, Wenzhou produced 17,000 metric tons of yellow croakers, with a total value of 1.5 billion yuan ($204.96 million), both ranking first in the province.
