Cultural splendor bridges seas and connects eras at Maritime Silk Road Conference

The 2023 Maritime Silk Road City Influence Mayor Exchange Conference was held in Wenzhou on Nov 25, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of the city. 

The event, co-organized by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province and Xinhua News Agency, drew representatives from 13 countries.

At the heart of the conference was the Maritime Silk Road Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition, a display of Wenzhou's cultural legacy. The interactive zone immersed participants in Wenzhou's traditional arts, including paper cutting, woodblock printing, and embroidery.

The beauty of Wenzhou's intangible cultural heritage was on full display, with exhibits seamlessly blending ancient craftsmanship with contemporary life, and were praised for their beauty, empathy in expression, and ingenuity.

The artistic rendition of the exhibition captured the essence of the city's maritime allure as well as its intangible cultural heritage, earning admiration from international guests.

Cultural empathy resonated as intangible heritage transcended borders. Guests like Yasiru Ranaraja from Sri Lanka marveled at the lacquerware craftsmanship, emphasizing the universal appeal of cultural heritage.

The conference underscored the profound impact of Wenzhou's rich culture, narrating stories through craftsmanship. Viewers traversed arts in different times, appreciating the city's historical and cultural significance. This brief cultural odyssey left an indelible mark, reinforcing Wenzhou's position as a custodian of heritage and a cultural influencer.
