Wenzhou hosted an event on Nov 23 in a bid to help local enterprises expand their footprint among the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation's member economies.

Gao Wei, deputy general manager of MTLC Electric Appliances Co Ltd, successfully passed the preliminary review to acquire nearly 30 APEC business travel visas for the company.

The event saw over 80 companies submit applications, with more than 240 individuals passing the initial screening. This visa card, a product of a reciprocal arrangement within the APEC members, allows holders from the Chinese mainland to conduct business across 16 economies, including Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand and Mexico.

Applying for this visa streamlines the process for all 16 economies, enabling multiple business trips within a five-year period without the need for additional applications. Wenzhou has optimized procedures, eliminated thresholds that required enterprises to reach a certain trade volume with APEC economies, and introduced innovative measures that continue to simplify administrative processes, resulting in a fivefold increase in applications compared to last year.

Since January, the city has processed over 800 APEC business travel visas, significantly enhancing efficiency and facilitating international business activities. This move not only fosters Chinese and foreign personnel exchanges but also propels local enterprises in market expansion and order acquisition.
