In a significant development, Wenzhou Airport's Phase III expansion project has secured official approval from the National Development and Reform Commission.

With a substantial investment of 12.55 billion yuan ($1.75 billion), the project aims to redefine the airport's capabilities.

The expansion includes the construction of a state-of-the-art T3 terminal, expansion of the T2 terminal, and refurbishment of the T1 terminal.

Adding to its infrastructure, a second runway, 3,600 meters in length, will be constructed along with the corresponding taxiways.

Anticipating future demand, the cargo area will undergo a remarkable expansion to cover an area of more than 13.33 hectares, or 200 mu, and will be capable of handling an annual cargo volume of 320,000 tons—nearly double the existing capacity.

Wenzhou Airport, currently serving 180 destination cities, has experienced a surge in both passenger and cargo volume. The expansion project aligns with the airport's vision, delivering a seamless blend of modernization and enhanced operational efficiency.

This holistic upgrade not only addresses current operational challenges but propels the airport into a new era of growth, reinforcing its pivotal role in regional and international aviation.
