Wenzhou unveils cutting-edge offshore wind turbine unit

The inaugural 16 MW offshore wind turbine unit in Zhejiang was launched yesterday morning at Goldwind Technology's offshore carbon neutral headquarters base in Wenzhou.

The event marks Wenzhou's ascent as a player in the production of cutting-edge offshore wind energy technology.

Developed through a collaboration between China Three Gorges Corporation and Goldwind Technology, the unit has earned a spot in the list of 2022 annual top 10 heavy equipment built by Chinese central State-owned enterprises. It stands out globally for having the largest single-unit installed capacity, the largest rotor diameter, and the lightest unit weight per megawatt among offshore wind turbine units.

The launch ceremony witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Goldwind Technology and the research institution, solidifying their commitment to advancing deep-sea offshore wind power technology.

Looking ahead, Wenzhou aims to leverage this achievement to deepen collaboration with industry leaders, positioning itself as a pivotal player in the national push towards a strategy and modern industrialization.

As the city charts its course into the future of clean energy, Goldwind Technology expressed its dedication to contributing to the city's ambition by integrating new energy industry practices and engaging in large-scale offshore wind power development.
