According to official statistics, Wenzhou's box office expanded 48.5 percent year-on-year to 439 million yuan ($61.49 million), ranking 25th among urban cinemas in China and third in Zhejiang. The number of moviegoers was 103.512 million, up 49.2 percent year-on-year.
Nine of the top 10 box office films in Wenzhou last year were domestic films, such as The Wandering Earth 2 and No More Bets. The most popular film was The Wandering Earth 2, with a box office of 39.41 million yuan, accounting for 9 percent of the city's total box office.
The total domestic box office was 54.91 billion yuan last year, and the top 10 films at the box office were all domestic films.
The top three highest-grossing cinemas in Wenzhou were Lumiere Wenzhou Wanda Plaza IMAX Store (box office 22.11 million yuan), Ruian Wuyue Plaza STARX Cinema (box office 16.52 million yuan), and Longwan Wanda Plaza IMAX Store (box office 16.19 million yuan).
Last year, Hangzhou's total box office revenue was 1.27 billion yuan, Ningbo was second at 630 million yuan, and Wenzhou was third at 439 million yuan.
