Wenzhou's total consumption during the three-day New Year's holiday, which ended on Jan 1, was 5.66 billion yuan ($792.74 million), up 26.61 percent year-on-year. Nighttime consumption exceeded 1.72 billion yuan, up 55 percent year-on-year.
During this period, the city's consumption in the retail, catering, accommodation and entertainment industries totaled 4.33 billion yuan, up 23.27 percent year-on-year. Catering consumption saw a surge of 27.37 percent year-on-year to 528 million yuan.
Meanwhile, the total number of visitors to the Wuma Historical and Cultural Block exceeded 710,000. The Dongtou Central Street, which is about 400 meters long, opened on New Year's Day, attracting 50,000 visitors. Its business income exceeded 200,000 yuan over the three-day holiday.
The city's major business circles and characteristic street districts also held a variety of consumption promotion activities. Sales in the Anyang-Yuhai Business Circle, Lecheng Business Circle and Ouhai New City Business Circle increased by 69.44 percent, 21.12 percent and 15.43 percent year-on-year, respectively, reaching 24.9 million yuan, 7.07 million yuan and 29.15 million yuan.
