Wenzhou Customs reported that Wenzhou Longwan International Airport handled more than 20,000 metric tons of international cargo in 2023, a 2.8-fold increase from 2022. This shows that Wenzhou Longwan International Airport has enhanced its international cargo capacity, to the benefit of the local and regional economy.

One of the primary drivers of this growth was the revolutionary 9610 cross-border e-commerce service, which started in May 2020. Wenzhou Customs cleared over 15 million pieces of exports worth nearly 1 billion yuan ($139.68 million) through this channel.

The 9610 service is a type of customs supervision model designed for individuals and cross-border e-commerce enterprises needing customs clearance for imported and exported retail e-commerce goods paid for via e-commerce platforms.

Wenzhou Customs also worked to facilitate the export of local specialty food and fresh agricultural products, such as fresh bamboo shoots, bayberries, and yellow croakers, by setting up a green channel and tracking the logistics of the goods.

Wenzhou Longwan International Airport now has 10 international cargo routes to eight destinations, including Milan, Los Angeles, Osaka, Tokyo, Seoul, Manila, Clark, and Hanoi.
