Wenzhou residents' per capita income in 2023 was 67,380 yuan ($9,432), reflecting an increase of 6.9 percent year-on-year, according to data released by the Wenzhou investigation team of the National Bureau of Statistics on Jan 29. The income gap between urban and rural residents narrowed from 1.91 in 2022 to 1.87 in 2023.
Wages accounted for half of residents' income. Data show that in 2023, the per capita wage income of Wenzhou residents totaled 35,758 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.7 percent. The wage income of urban and rural residents reached 40,414 yuan and 24,435 yuan, respectively, marking year-on-year increases of 6.1 percent and 8.3 percent.
Operating income also recovered for the booming consumer market, up 6.8 percent year-on-year, accounting for 18.4 percent of disposable income. The per capita net operating income of urban and rural residents was 13,372 yuan and 9,930 yuan, respectively.
Property income and transfer income also achieved stable growth, accounting for 28.5 percent of disposable income. The per capita net property income and net transfer income were 10,368 yuan and 8,885 yuan, respectively, with year-on-year upticks of 6.8 percent and 7.8 percent.
