As the Spring Festival approaches, the New Year is becoming increasingly lively in various ancient villages along the Nanxi River in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province.

On Jan 30, a New Year event kicked off in Cangpo ancient village, Yantou town. Visitors engaged in various traditional activities, including making rice cakes and longevity peaches, grinding tofu, and enjoying opera performances, fish lanterns, and dragon dances, immersing themselves in the charm of traditional culture.

Cangpo ancient village was adorned with New Year decorations, featuring a variety of scenes and colorful lanterns, while many people came to take photos. "I wore Hanfu and did my hair before going to watch the dragon dance and make rice cakes. It's so fun here," remarked a fourth-grade student.

Tourists Zhang Xiangchun and his wife, who came from Wenzhou, savored freshly-baked pig head meat, marveling at the authentic and nostalgic New Year foods in the village.

Additionally, the event featured iron flower and fire dragon dancing performances, along with activities like making Hanfu fish lanterns and hand-held lanterns, offering tourists a taste of different New Year flavors and cultures. The event is scheduled to continue until the end of the first lunar month.
