Wenzhou plants 22,700 mu of forests in 2023

Wenzhou recently initiated extensive campaigns, encouraging citizens to plant, cherish, protect, and advocate for greenery in celebration of the 46th National Tree Planting Day.

In recent years, Wenzhou has excelled in scientific afforestation and enhancing forest quality. Last year, the growth rate in the total output value of the city's forestry industry ranked first in Zhejiang province.

Last year, Wenzhou ranked first in the province in terms of national afforestation rate, covering 22,700 mu (1,513 hectares). The city's enhanced the quality of 514,900 mu of forest. Additionally, it completed nearly 30,000 mu of camellia planting and low-yield forest transformation and saw a record-breaking 683,500 participants in national tree planting activities.

In addition, Wenzhou prioritized forest protection, building 75.33 kilometers of emergency forest fire roads and recording zero major forest fires or casualties. The pine wilt disease prevention and control task achieved a three-year milestone, reducing affected areas and dead trees by 787,000 mu and 1.03 million trees, respectively, the most in the province.

Moreover, in exploring the utilization of forestry resources, Wenzhou donated 26,826 metric tons of carbon sinks, also the most in the province.
