A shipment of goods under the "9610" classification is set to depart from Yueqing Bay, marking the first sea freight export under the Yueqing Bay International Express Customs Supervision Area, according to Wenzhou Customs.
The "9610" model, designed for cross-border e-commerce trade, streamlines the export process for small, frequent B2C orders. This model simplifies customs procedures, reducing both time and costs for businesses.
Since its inception at Wenzhou Longwan International Airport last May, the airport's cross-border e-commerce export cargo volume under the "9610" model has seen remarkable growth. In January alone, its export cargo volume reached 796.6 metric tons, accounting for 65 percent of the total.
Liu Jidong, an official at Wenzhou Customs in Yueqing, explained the efficiency of the "9610" model, particularly in sea freight, which offers larger capacity and fewer restrictions compared to air transport.
"After the success of the '9610' business model in Yueqing, we will leverage the advantages of water, public, and rail transport in Yueqing Bay to attract local goods as well as goods from South Zhejiang, North Fujian, and East Jiangxi," said Wang Baimeng, general manager of Yueqing Bay International Co Ltd.
"We have great confidence in the sea freight '9610' export business model and anticipate that 1,000 containers of goods will be exported through this channel this year," Wang stated.
