The 36th Turin International Book Fair, which commenced on May 9, featured a special exhibition from Wencheng county, Wenzhou, celebrating the legacy of Liu Bowen, a famed Chinese historical figure. This marked the first time items related to Liu and the county's traditional crafts were displayed internationally, captivating visitors.
The fair, a key event in Europe's literary calendar since 1988, showcased works from approximately 2,000 publishers. Wenzhou Wuchuang Cultural Communication Co Ltd, supported by Wencheng, brought a selection of Liu's writings and related cultural research books, alongside over 100 traditional Wencheng handicrafts and creative products.
Liu's hometown's rich cultural tapestry and scenic beauty were introduced to the international community, with Yulizi enjoying particular popularity for its accessible storytelling and social commentary. The Wencheng handicrafts on display were also lauded for their exquisite artistry and cultural significance.
Pan Xuanpu, general manager of the exhibiting company, credited the exhibit's success to Wencheng's dedication to promoting Liu's legacy and local heritage through various cultural activities and media productions. These efforts have significantly contributed to global recognition of Chinese culture and the promotion of its traditional heritage.
