The 5th China (Ouhai) Eyewear Town Procurement Festival commenced on May 10 in Wenzhou, spotlighting Ouhai's role as a global eyewear hub.
The event, which also marked the launch of a provincial-level commercial street, drew industry experts and entrepreneurs worldwide to explore new avenues for innovation and growth.
The festival celebrated the unveiling of a strategic upgrade to the town's infrastructure and commercial offerings, aimed at fostering a high-quality business district that caters to diverse needs — from dining and shopping to cultural appreciation. This initiative is expected to boost the local fashion industry's high-quality development.
Strategic partnerships were formed as leading suppliers and brands, including Essilor, signed agreements to join the vibrant community of Ouhai Eyewear Town.
Ouhai's eyewear industry, with roots dating back to the 1970s, has evolved into a powerhouse and is home to nearly 1,000 enterprises in the eyewear or related industries. Industrial enterprises above a designated size in the district boasted an output exceeding 5 billion yuan ($692 million) and foreign trade exports of 5.2 billion yuan in 2023, with products reaching over 100 countries, solidifying its status as a primary supplier for the world's top eyewear brands.
The festival also featured an eyewear exhibition, offering a one-stop procurement platform for buyers and showcasing the latest trends with the annual Ouhai Eyewear Brand Show.
