The National Canoe Sprint Youth Championships concluded in Hefei, Anhui province on May 19, with Wenzhou's seven-athlete team winning four gold, four silver, and two bronze medals.
Li Shuqi, a dragon boat champion at the Hangzhou Asian Games, secured two golds in the women's single canoe 200-meter and 500-meter events and a silver in the women's double canoe 500-meter race with her teammate.
Sun Wanting also excelled, winning gold in the women's single kayak 5,000-meter race and silver in the 1,000-meter event. In the men's events, Zhou Yujie won gold in the Group B men's four-person kayak 500-meter race, silver in the double kayak 500-meter, and bronzes in the double kayak 1,000-meter and single kayak 5,000-meter races. Dai Xiantao earned silver in the men's single canoe 5,000-meter race.
Trained by the Wenzhou Water Sports Center, these athletes stood out among 530 competitors on 26 teams. Li, having previously won three gold medals in the Hangzhou Asian Games, will represent China at the 2024 World Junior Canoe Sprint Championships in Bulgaria.
