In a bid to support the development of local specialty industries, Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, is actively advancing key rural revitalization projects. By closely monitoring energy demand, the city aims to enhance infrastructure and provide robust energy services that bolster the local agricultural economy.

“At this stage, the greenhouse vegetables are entering their growth period, and in a short while, most will be ready for market. This is when electricity consumption peaks,” said Li Guoqing, an employee at the Luze Digital Agriculture Demonstration Park in Wenzhou.

To assist farmers in boosting yields and incomes, State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Co has adopted a "point-to-point" service model. Service teams regularly visit farms to assess their energy needs, inspect irrigation and drainage equipment, and conduct special patrols of agricultural power lines. They use infrared thermography to monitor irrigation systems, inspect power facilities, and address potential safety hazards, rectifying non-standard power lines and ensuring continuous support for any electricity-related issues.

A green channel for quick electricity service connections has also been established to expedite power access for irrigation projects, the power operator said.

The agriculture demonstration park has implemented smart greenhouses. AI-powered glass ceilings increase light transmission, while integrated water and fertilizer systems autonomously manage irrigation and fertilization based on plant growth and substrate moisture levels. The park’s use of coconut coir for cultivation not only reduces costs but also enhances the quality of tomatoes, meeting green and pollution-free standards, Li said.
