A total of 16 international students from universities in Poland, South Korea, Italy, and the United States participated in the 2024 Summer Clinical Program at Wenzhou Medical University from July 20 to Aug 18.
This program allowed students to engage in clinical practice, experience Chinese medical education, and foster international friendships.
The camp began with an opening ceremony on July 22, attended by university officials and hospital representatives. They welcomed the students and highlighted the program's goals of enhancing clinical skills and cultural understanding.
Throughout the month, students visited the university's history and human science museums, gaining insight into its cultural heritage and academic spirit. They participated in clinical practice at affiliated hospitals, covering departments such as emergency, dermatology, endocrinology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, and pharmacy.
Students learned to diagnose and treat common skin diseases, understand endocrine disease mechanisms, practice emergency skills, and engage in clinical pharmacy work. They also observed surgical treatments, deepened their knowledge of pregnancy and childbirth, and participated in pediatric case discussions.
The internship provided a deep understanding of Chinese hospitals' scale, specialization, and technological advancement, leaving a lasting impression of the professionalism and dedication of Chinese doctors.
Beyond clinical practice, students experienced Wenzhou's cultural heritage, including martial arts, historical sites, and local scenery, gaining a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture and traditions.
