Wenzhou athlete Lin Naili wins gold at Paris Paralympics

Lin Naili, a native of Wenzhou in Zhejiang province, along with his partner Li Fengmei, triumphed over the United States with scores of 21-14, 21-12 in straight sets, securing the gold medal in the para-badminton mixed doubles SH6 category.

This gold medal marks the first-ever gold medal won by a Wenzhou athlete in the history of the Paralympic Games. His performance embodies the Olympic spirit and the sportsmanship of Chinese athletes, showcasing the determination and courage of disabled people in Wenzhou to strive for excellence.

Badminton is widely popular among people with disabilities, with the sport making its debut at the Paralympic Games in 2021. Para-badminton players are classified into six categories based on the extent of their disabilities, including four standing categories and two wheelchair categories. The SH6 category is designated for athletes with congenital dwarfism.
