Experts and scholars in the strategic and academic fields from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Belgium and Hungary convened in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, to participate in the 3rd WZBC Wenzhou Entrepreneurs Forum on Sept 2.
Wenzhou, known as the "Cultural Capital of East Asia", impressed them with its urban charm and offered them the chance to feel the pulse of China's economy in the new era. Before heading to the city, the experts and scholars visited Shanghai and Yiwu, a small commodities trading center in Zhejiang.
The forum, co-hosted by Wenzhou Business College and the Academy of International and Regional Studies at Renmin University of China, focused on the topic of accelerating the development of new quality productive forces and Chinese modernization.
It aimed to gather insights from global experts and scholars to improve the systems and mechanisms tailored to local conditions for developing new quality productive forces and comprehensively promote reform and high-level opening-up in Wenzhou.
As an important commercial port on China's southeast coast and a key city along the Maritime Silk Road, Wenzhou has deep connections with the Belt and Road Initiative. Around 836,000 people from Wenzhou live and work in 180 countries and regions, with 380,000 living in 57 countries and regions involved in the BRI.
