Wenzhou athletes Lin Naili and Lin Shuangbao received a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations in their hometown of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, on Sept 11.
The brother-sister duo achieved remarkable success by winning a gold and a silver medal, respectively, at the Paris Paralympics. This was the first time Lin Naili and Lin Shuangbao competed in the Paralympics.
Lin Naili, along with his partner Li Fengmei, clinched the gold medal in the para-badminton mixed doubles SH6 category. This victory not only earned Wenzhou its first gold medal at the Paris Paralympics but also marked the first-ever Paralympic gold for a local athlete from Wenzhou.
Lin Shuangbao, meanwhile, secured a silver medal in the para-badminton women's singles SH6 category.
Zhejiang athletes made a strong showing at the Paris Paralympics, with 14 gold, three silver, and six bronze medals, setting seven world records and achieving the best results in the province's Paralympic history. Wenzhou ranked fourth in the province with its tally of one gold and one silver.
At the Paris Paralympics, Wenzhou athlete Hu Mingyao finished fourth in the men's goalball event, while Xie Maosan placed fifth in the women's kayak single 200m KL1 event.
