Yueqing, a county-level city in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, saw 1.33 billion yuan ($188.01 million) in exports to Africa from January to July, a 17.8 percent year-on-year increase.

In 2023, Yueqing's exports to Africa amounted to 2.05 billion yuan, an 11.2 percent year-on-year growth, according to official data.

Chint Group, headquartered in Yueqing, announced on Sept 3 that it secured two major photovoltaic project contracts in Algeria, with a total scale of 1,000 megawatts.

In recent years, Chint has carried out construction projects in over 40 African countries, including Madagascar, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia, Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria, according to Fan Hongyan, head of Chint's Southeast Africa region.

The group has also established subsidiaries, factories, warehouses, and operation and maintenance centers in Africa.

"We began our trade with Africa around 2018, and our products are expanding from traditional electrical components in the power sector to the new energy industry, and are being used in fields such as power equipment, farmland infrastructure, and new energy photovoltaic storage," said Liu Dexian, chairman of Zhejiang GRL Electric Co.

In 2023, the company's trade with Africa exceeded 20 million yuan, thanks to its consistent products and a diverse range of offerings that meet market demands.
