Wenzhou sees record 13.65 million visitors during Spring Festival

Wenzhou, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province, witnessed a surge in tourism this Spring Festival, receiving 13.65 million visitors, a 22.5-percent increase from last year. Overnight tourists totaled 3.03 million, and tourism revenue reached 6.98 billion yuan ($958 million), marking an 18-percent growth.

Major scenic spots saw record attendance, with 1.49 million visitors to the Nanxi River scenic area, 896,500 visitors to Yandang Mountain, and 252,700 visitors to the Yanting scenic area.

To enhance the Chinese New Year experience, Wenzhou's cultural and historic sites introduced a variety of immersive festive activities. Yandang Mountain held temple fairs with bell-ringing ceremonies and traditional blessings, the Nanxi River recreated Song Dynasty (960-1279) celebrations featuring puppetry and folk performances, and Wuma historic district appeared on China Central Television, showcasing opera, handicrafts, and lively markets.

Wenzhou also rolled out various travel incentives, including free entry to key scenic spots for airline passengers, discounts on local accommodations and attractions, and interactive experiences blending folk traditions with modern entertainment.

With its mix of rich culture and history, innovative tourism experiences, and festive energy, Wenzhou reaffirmed its status as a premier holiday destination.
