Zhang Zhenfeng, vice-governor of Zhejiang province and Party secretary of Wenzhou, welcomed Lamont Repollet, president of Kean University in the United States, on March 18, with the two sides aiming to strengthen ties and advance the high-quality development of Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU).
Zhang commended Kean University's recent achievements, highlighting WKU as a key symbol of China-US educational collaboration. Over the past decade, WKU has made strides in campus development, talent cultivation, and international exchange, laying a strong foundation for future growth. He expressed hopes for deeper cooperation in joint academic programs, talent development, and global exchanges, aiming to elevate WKU into a world-class international university.
Repollet praised Wenzhou's strong support for education and its commitment to fostering a global learning environment. He emphasized Kean University's increasing academic influence and reaffirmed its dedication to encouraging student exchanges through WKU. He expressed optimism about further collaborative efforts in education, technology, and cultural exchange, hoping to strengthen ties between the two institutions and contribute to China-US friendship.
During his visit, Repollet also toured Dongtou district, where he explored the Dongtou International Design-Build Festival, a joint project by Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University. The festival showcases public art installations blending modern design with local maritime culture, incorporating elements like marine life-inspired sculptures and recycled ocean waste materials. He praised Dongtou's cultural tourism development and expressed interest in further collaboration on urban planning and architectural innovation.
The delegation also visited Huagang village, where they explored rural tourism and homestay development, gaining insights into the region's sustainable tourism initiatives.
