In a move to support local companies participating in the 137th Canton Fair, Wenzhou's foreign affairs office held back-to-back APEC Business Travel Card promotion events in Ouhai and Rui'an on April 2 and 3, respectively.
The events aimed to help foreign trade enterprises explore international markets and secure overseas orders by leveraging the benefits of the APEC Business Travel Card – a fast-track travel document that grants cardholders visa-free entry to 16 APEC member economies, including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Singapore, for up to five years. It also offers expedited customs clearance.
With the Canton Fair – the largest and most comprehensive trade fair in China – set to open on April 15, nearly 250 representatives from Wenzhou-based export companies attended the sessions.
At the Rui'an event, Cai Jianlin, chairman of Rui'an XinerTai Footwear Co, shared his experience using the card: "We've been trading with Russia for over a decade. With the APEC card, I can now reach my overseas clients as easily as my domestic clients. No more visa delays – it's fast, cost-effective, and incredibly convenient."
The campaign follows a similar session in Yueqing earlier this year and forms part of Wenzhou's broader strategy to empower local businesses through proactive foreign affairs services. By unlocking the policy advantages of the APEC card, the city is helping enterprises gain global confidence and increase their competitiveness.
