Dongtou district in Wenzhou saw a 23.8 percent year-on-year increase in industrial added value from January to February, the highest growth rate among Zhejiang's mountainous and island counties, local media outlets reported.
Despite limited resources, the island district delivered a strong economic start to the year by advancing marine industries, upgrading traditional sectors, and accelerating emerging industries.
Key enterprises, including Windey New Energy and Shibo Electrical Technology Co, reported surging output, with smart manufacturing and export orders driving growth. Traditional industries are shifting toward high-end, intelligent, and green development, while offshore wind power projects and new material hubs are taking shape.
Strong government support, including goal-setting, enterprise services, and talent retention measures, has helped lay the foundation for Dongtou's industrial momentum. With a focus on new productivity and marine economy, Dongtou is powering ahead in its "sea garden" development journey.
