Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh state and North India's second-largest city after Delhi, is emerging as a key economic, cultural, and educational center in the region. Covering 2,528 square kilometers and home to 3.6 million people, the city boasts well-developed transportation infrastructure and a thriving tourism sector.

Its economy ranks among India's top 15, driven by industries such as information technology, manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, and chemicals. It also hosts R&D centers of major tech firms, including Indian retail giant Reliance Retail and Sony.

Lucknow's handicrafts industry holds vast potential, accounting for 60 percent of India's total handicraft exports. Key exports include marble products, gemstones, jewelry, textiles, leather goods, and glassware. The city is renowned for its women's footwear industry and is often referred to as India's "City of Women's Shoes".

Wenzhou and Lucknow established a friendly exchange relationship in September 2017, fostering ongoing collaboration and mutual development.
