Zhejiang province has achieved satisfactory results in its college student conscription in recent years, with the proportion of conscript college students ranking first among other provinces in China for six consecutive years, and reaching as high as 75.1 percent in 2018, according to a meeting on college student conscriptions held in Zhoushan on May 30.

Zhoushan stands in the outpost of China's coastal defense. Its Zhejiang Ocean University ranks among the top universities in the province for its proportion of conscript college students. The school has sent 468 students to the military over the past five years. 

It has also admitted nearly 100 retired students who have played an active role in guiding the school military training, publicizing national defense knowledge and safeguarding campus security.

This year's college student conscription in Zhejiang has already started. More than 50,000 students have signed up, with nearly 27,000 graduates.
