Zhoushan ranks among China's top 100 cities for foreign trade

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province ranked 28th on the list of the Top 100 Chinese Foreign Trade Cities of 2018 released recently by journal China Customs.

Statistics from Zhoushan Customs show that the city's foreign trade hit 113.55 billion yuan ($16.12 billion) last year, up 44.9 percent year on year. Exports were valued at 42.48 billion yuan, while imports reached 71.07 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.6 percent and 78 percent, respectively.

In addition, the city ranked first among cities in Zhejiang province in terms of import growth and the total foreign trade growth. 

The list has been released every year for the past 10 years. Another eight cities in the province also made the list, including Hangzhou and Ningbo. 

The list is selected based on five indicators – quality, structure, efficiency, development, and potential of a city's foreign trade. Shenzhen, Shanghai and Dongguan were the three top-ranking cities.
