A marine ecology innovation valley in Putuo district, Zhoushan, has received a total of nearly 1.80 billion yuan ($251.63 million) in investment since it was opened in November 2017.
Two landmark projects engaged in bioproduct production and high-end equipment testing were introduced in the valley at a recent investment promotion conference, and the number of enterprises in the valley has increased to 116, according to official data.
The innovation valley covers an area of eight square kilometers and is known as the "Blue Silicon Valley" of Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province.
The valley has been focusing on different areas of the marine industry, including biomedicine, high-end equipment manufacturing, and electronic information, to name a few.
In recent years, Putuo district has been building a series of innovation and entrepreneurship platforms which have the potential to drive development in the valley, said officials.
According to local authorities, the valley has become an important innovation platform which incubates emerging industries, drives the development of the local economy, and boosts the integration of local industries, including big health.
