Updated : 2019-09-09 (chinadaily.com.cn)

A crew from the China Media Group stationed on Xiushan Island in Daishan county, Zhoushan will shoot an episode of a TV series in celebration of 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The episode will recount the construction and development of the 3.4-megawatt LHD-developed tidal power generator, which lies off the southern coast of the island.

According to local authorities, construction on the generator started in May 2014. The first phase of the project, which consisted of a 1 mW tidal generating unit, started to generate electricity on July 27, 2016 and was connected to the national grid within the next month. The second and third phases of the project were launched at the end of last year.

A power supply contract was signed between LHD, the developer and operator of the generator, and State Grid Daishan Power Supply Co on Aug 23. The agreement marks a breakthrough in the marine clean energy industry, experts said.

The TV series also explores the upgrading of Chinese enterprises by examining products and technologies that were made in China, in order to show China's economic and social development in the new era, said officials.

The episode started shooting on June 10 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province. The crew filmed scenes in many provinces and cities, including Hangzhou, Huzhou, Zhoushan and Fu'an (in Fujian province). The series is scheduled to wrap up in September in Qingdao, Shandong province.
