Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province staged a roadshow in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, on Nov 19, local media reported.

During the event, a Zhoushan delegation distributed nearly 1,000 tourism brochures and 1,000 souvenirs.

Officials from the Zhoushan municipal culture and tourism department promoted the city's unique island scenery, fishing culture, and rich history, while officials from the culture and tourism departments of the city's districts and counties showcased their special tourism products and tour packages.

Over the past several days, Zhoushan has also promoted itself in the cities of Zhengzhou and Luoyang in Henan.

An official from the Zhoushan municipal culture and tourism department said that Zhengzhou, Luoyang, and Xi'an have many tourist attractions, bringing in visitors from home and abroad.

The three cities are also a significant source of tourists for Zhoushan and help connect the city with Central China, Northwest China and Southwest China, noted the official.

Statistics show that 516 tourist groups from Zhengzhou and 104 from Xi'an visited Zhoushan last year, respective year-on-year increases of 356.64 percent and 197.14 percent.

This year, the Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport launched direct flights to Zhengzhou and Xi'an. The Zhoushan official said that the direct flights are expected to bring more tourists from Zhengzhou and Xi'an to Zhoushan this year.

In recent years, Zhoushan has been making efforts to attract more visitors from the Yangtze River Delta and southeastern coastal areas. During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, Zhoushan received more than 1.42 million visitors, 21 percent of whom came from Jiangsu, Shanghai, Anhui, and Henan.
