Dinghai district in Zhoushan city, East China's Zhejiang province, has been awarded the title of Excellent County (District) in the Construction of a Beautiful Zhejiang in 2022, making it their fifth consecutive win since 2017, local media reported.

The honor was announced at the province-wide environmental protection conference on Aug 8.

In addition, Dinghai has successfully been included in the provincial program of building a zero-waste city this year. It has also been approved to conduct the first provincial integrated protection and restoration projects for mountains, waters, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands and seas.

For the sixth year in a row, Dinghai has been recognized as "outstanding" in the comprehensive reform of agricultural water prices across the province.

The honor was given due to Dinghai's efforts in ecological conservation in terms of control of polluted air, water and solid waste.

Moving forward, Dinghai will take agriculture and tourism industries as the new starting point, and effectively tap into local folk culture, agricultural culture and rural culture to create key projects such as beautiful scenic belts and demonstration zones for common prosperity, expediting the transformation of its idle resources into productive assets, increasing farmers' income and turning environmental benefits into economic gains.
