Putuo district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has in recent years been holding fairs regularly in rural areas as part of its common prosperity drive.

Specialty agricultural products, handmade crafts, snacks, and various recreational activities are featured at the fairs.

Yu Zhifei, who runs an agritainment in the village, said that the fairs have attracted flocks of tourists and her business has been booming since the fair was started last year.

"The atmosphere here is fantastic. I can experience the local customs, buy specialty agricultural products and handicrafts. I really love the vibrant atmosphere," said a tourist surnamed Zhou.

Such events are aimed at boosting rural tourism consumption and helping residents increase their incomes by selling agricultural products, according to a local official.

The official added that authorities have also been employing online promotion and offline interactive experiences to attract visitors.

The village has held 13 fairs, with more than 380 stall holders participating and a revenue of over 3.2 million yuan ($438,654.43) generated, driving tourism-related income to over 7 million yuan.
