Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has been listed among pilot cities expected to build 15-minute community life circles, the Ministry of Commerce announced on Aug 8.

Seventy cities in the country made the list.

The 15-minute community-life circle allows community residents to obtain daily necessities and basic life services within a 15-minute walk, and is an important step to improve people's well-being.

Authorities have released a plan to build five such life circles this year, including building canteens for elders, upgrading parking lots in old residential areas, introducing convenience stores, installing new energy charging poles and amusement facilities, and offering household services.

Zhoushan will roll out a three-year action plan to build 15 such life circles over the next three years, where residents can have access to various services related to living, working, studying, traveling and elderly care, according to authorities.

Creating such life circles will play a crucial role in improving people's well-being and reviving consumption, said a local official.
