Zhoushan sees robust growth in cross-border e-commerce

Updated : 2023-10-23 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Imports and exports of cross-border e-commerce in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, amounted to 2.49 billion yuan ($340.98 million) from January to August this year, a year-on-year increase of 112 percent, official statistics show.

The city's overseas warehouses have expanded to 43,000 square meters, an uptick of 115 percent year-on-year.

The strong performance was largely due to the implementation of a series of measures rolled out by authorities, including establishing a cross-border e-commerce industrial park, creating overseas warehouses, and setting up supporting service systems.

The industrial park, which provides a first-class office environment with facilities such as live streaming rooms, training rooms, and exhibition halls, establishes a school-enterprise cooperation platform and creates a cross-border e-commerce internship training base.

Zhoushan has set up 11 overseas warehouses in various countries, including the United States, the UK and Germany. The warehouses exported goods worth $62 million in the first half of this year, accounting for 80 percent of the city's total.

Authorities have also rolled out supporting policies to help traditional enterprises achieve transformation and upgrading, with 50 companies establishing overseas marketing websites with an independent domain name as of the end of June.

Authorities will continue efforts to bolster its cross-border e-commerce industry by attracting more cross-border e-commerce enterprises and holding a series of training courses.
