Putuo district in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province held a marine industry promotion conference on Nov 10, inviting more than 40 Putuo native entrepreneurs and 40 representatives of industry-leading enterprises.
Authorities outlined the district's marine industrial cluster that covers shipbuilding and advanced equipment manufacturing for ports, ocean fisheries, marine biology and health, maritime services, clean energy, and marine cultural tourism during the event.
Deals for six projects with a combined investment of four billion yuan ($549.09 million) were inked.
Dai Jinfeng, general manager of Wanyang Group Zhoushan Technology Co, said that his company decided to invest in the city largely due to its natural resources, ports, and favorable business environment.
Dai added that his company signed an agreement to build an 800-million-yuan marine biology facility that will be engaged in manufacturing biological peptide products applied in various fields such as cosmetics, food, and pharmaceuticals
Authorities also appointed five native entrepreneurs as counselors for attracting investment to the district.
