The 2023 Zhoushan Islands Marathon is scheduled to be held in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province on Nov 19, according to a news conference on Nov 13.

The event will include 3,000 participants in the full marathon, 6,000 participants in the half marathon, and 6,000 participants in the fitness run, including the family run.

Participants from 12 countries and regions including China, Japan, Kenya, Singapore, Spain, and the United Kingdom have registered. For the marathon and half marathon events, participants from outside Zhoushan account for 72.3 percent of the total. For the fitness run and family run events, participants from outside the city account for 24.4 percent of the total.

The course for the marathon, which is the only island marathon in China, spans two islands and boasts beautiful coastal scenery. It was previously named the "Most Beautiful Race Course in China" by the Chinese Athletics Association.

Runners will set out from the city's Putuo Theater, and participants of the full and mini marathons will pass by Donggang New City, Shenjiamen, Changzhi Island, and other famous buildings in Zhoushan, finishing at the Zhoushan Sports Center.

With its pleasant natural environment, abundance of aquatic products, and a variety of marine sports, the city attracts numerous visitors from home and abroad every year.
